Once abused, love is not in my heart. I am not God, nor am I a dog. I do not love unconditionally, from moment to moment, utterly forgetting physical and emotional violence inflicted by someone, whom I may have indeed once loved. Nor do I expect an abuser to ever understand their misbehavior. If they were rational, they would not abuse anyone in the first place. Asking them to beg forgiveness is futile - because they feel justified in abusing in the first place. At this point, love is definitely not a consideration. Why would I love someone who has hurt and frightened me?
