i wish there was some way that we could all experience this kind of exchange. when my daughter was 8, we had an opportunity to move to what is now eastern europe because i just knew there were some kinds of education one cant find in an american classroom where everyone is supposed to blend within a generation. our perception of the world has expanded so much and as she has returned to the states for university, she sees things there with such different eyes. yes, there are many scholastic opportunities for the hard worker but oh, how sad the legitimate fears of parents and the narrowness of social circles that one might access. why is it such a frightening proposition to celebrate diversity? how ironic that our nation was supposed to be all about just that! thanks very much for proving that not everyone should be judged by the stereotype.
