How wonderful to hear (among so much else) about the patience required for embroidering! It was very big in my life, dating from third grade (I turned 80 this year)
Sr. Maria Virgo taught us to embroider (along with hemstitching, and other classics of sewing)......I will not forget the care and focus and time needed to embroider one scene of puppies on a doorstep surrounded by flowerpots on a guest towel! It remains, however, a very cherished memory.......and Sister was a tough taskmaster.....the back of the piece had to look OK too......almost as good as the front!
