I've always had a hard time with the fact that God tells Moses to tell Pharaoh to let his people go, but then adds that He (God) will harden Pharaoh's heart. Harden his heart to the point of multiple disastrous events taking place, in which many innocent people perish. This strikes me as quite the double-bind, of which there a number in the Bible. God appears as a puppeteer, and both Moses and Pharaoh are but puppets on the end of God's strings. What is the point?
