As a Greek-American convert to Islam I can definitely relate to the Latino-Islamic experience. Some parts of these two identities intersect quite nicely. For example, many religious values on family are already cultural values in my Greek heritage. Other times it's more complicated. I also liked reading about Ms. Khadija's story: when my mom and dad were coming to terms with my choice of religion it was also the priest who interceded and calmed everyone down. He said that every religion has a light but some have it brighter than others (i.e. although Islam is not the complete truth of his Christianity it is, nonetheless, divinely inspired whose life of worship is directed to the same God).
