It is interesting, Garrett, that you chose to move from one fundamentalist religion to another and that, against both, you have had to struggle. I've read Paul and came away feeling that, somehow, Paul missed the openness of Jesus and his forgiveness. That Paul may have been denying his own feelings (as have many modern anti-gay, but gay, politicians) takes the discussion where it need not go. Instead, accept yourself and believe, if that is your desire, that you will find your way to heaven regardless of the gospel. And, maybe, a deeper look into the controlling and limiting nature of Christianity and Islam would free you from the need to conform to a belief system that doesn't accept you for who, and what, you are. Said differently, hold onto your own truth and let go of the outcomes. Peace.
