With its krykes and clifts, the unique landscape of the Burren region in western Ireland is where John O'Donohue spent his childhood. For many years, O'Donohue was a leader of the Burren Action Group that sought to preserve the region's distinct ecology.
NPR reporter Jacki Lyden was a close friend of John O'Donohue and produced this remembrance soon after his passing. The site also includes links to some previous interviews he did on NPR.

O'Donohue was a poet and philosopher who wrote several books, including Anam Ċara and Conamara Blues. He died on January 4, 2008.
